Bristol City
The region's urban core, sharing a downtown with Bristol, Tennessee across the State Street line. The Birthplace of Country Music Museum and the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino anchor the Virginia side.
Washington County
Abingdon's brick-sidewalk historic district and the Barter Theatre, with the Virginia Creeper Trail running out to Damascus. Most of Bristol's suburban growth spills into the county along I-81.
Smyth County
Marion, Chilhowie, and Saltville along the I-81 valley, with Hungry Mother State Park just north of Marion. The Mount Rogers high country climbs from the county's southern edge.
Scott County
Gate City and Weber City sit against the Kingsport, Tennessee line, with Natural Tunnel State Park and the Clinch River to the north. The Carter Family Fold in Hiltons keeps the county's country-music roots on stage.
